Trail Running and Trail Races In San Diego
Trail running has recently exploded with more and more runners opting to get off the road and hit the trails. San Diego trail runners are extremely lucky compared to most. In the heart of San Diego lie some of the most magnificent trails with easy access and challenging runs. San Diego trail runners have the opportunity to run:

All of these trail systems are within 15-20 minutes of downtown San Diego and are easily accessible and safe. All have restrooms at the trail head for your convenience.
If you are unsure about running trails there is a great resource for you to try. The San Diego Dirt Devils are a group of San Diego road and trail runners that meet during the week and weekends at various trails around San Diego. Go to www.meetup.com/dirtdevils for information on how to join.
You can also call the San Diego Running Institute for more information. Many of the San Diego Running Institute’s employees run the trails with the Dirt Devils.
Perhaps you are tired of running the same old road race courses in San Diego. Try training for some of San Diego’s newest trail races. One of the best trail race series offered in San Diego is the San Diego Dirt Devil Trail Race Series. This unique trail race series begins in May with a 5K, a month later you run a 10K, then the next month a 15K and finally a Trail Half Marathon in October! All of the races are well supported and showcase some of San Diego’s finest trails. There are prizes and giveaways associated with each trail race. Each race offers something unique to all runners from running shirts to sports duffel bags. For those that run all of the races there is a special award.
