Dr. Runco Sir,

I wanted to wish you happy holidays and let you know that the
orthotics are helping me out immensely. I am following the run less, run
faster program that appeared in Runners World and it has been going really
well. I ran an 18:45 at the MCRD 5k. It was a flat course but still I ran
it pain free with a smile on my face the whole way. Thanks again for all of
the help. Take care and I’ll see you in the New Year.

Very Respectfully,

M.M.

Doc Vic,

Thank you for the time yesterday. I hope you can forgive me if I seemed stunned/perplexed as we talked. I found the information you gave me interesting as it was NOTHING that I was expecting. Incidentally, when my friends were asking me about you (ie – does this guy know what he is doing) – the answer was a) He is brilliant & b) It is very obvious why this gentleman has completed marathons. He is mentally tough and confidence seeps from every part of him.

Went running 3 miles yesterday without the IT Strap OR the Left knee brace – just the new shoes without the ortho inserts. No pain, just a slight bit of tightness this morning that I stretched out nicely. Looking forward to the inserts.

Thanks again for spending so much time with me.

The Staff

Emily: Emily joins us as one of the longer career runners in our SDRI family. Emily began running when she was working at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society where she participated in the Team in Training program for her first marathon, Honolulu. Since then, she has completed 20 half marathons and 6 marathons during her 12 years of running. She is also the only one in the shop with kids which means making time for training is a lot more challenging for her. Although her free time is very limited between work and her kids, she will always find the time to run. During her free time (if she has any), she enjoys road and mountain biking, reading and of course spending time with her kids.
Heather:Currently a student earning a bachelors in Kinesiology, Heather plans to go on to earn her doctorate if Physical Therapy by 2015. Heather runs daily to maintain a strong base.  She’s also an experienced backpacker and alpine climber. Heather looks forward to running upcoming races in 2010. Her favorite races are half marathon, 10 mile, and 10K.
Rio the Shop DogI’m Rio, the official SDRI shop dog! I was adopted by SDRI staff member Emily from the shelter in July of 2010. They think I’m a 2 year old terrier mix, but I prefer to call myself a pure bred mutt. I love working at SDRI because like all the staff, I am runner too. My favorite runs are on the trail because that’s where I am free to chase all the bunnies and birds I can find. Not to brag, but I am pretty fast so one day I know I will catch one. So far my longest runs have been around 10 miles but I’m sure I can run more if I tried (Honestly I think Em is afraid to go too far with me, she doesn’t want her butt kicked by a 25 pound dog so I humor her). When I’m not running, I’m at work in the shop with Emily. I’m a very playful pup, so I always like a good game of tug of war or fetch. I also love to snuggle so if you have a lap, I might just try to get up on it! Sometimes I’ll even help with the shoe fittings, since my opinion is very important around here. I’m very happy here at SDRI and grateful that Doc has brought me on as part of the staff. Next time you’re in shop, come by and say hello, I love runners!
