Computerized Health, Fitness and Running Injury Prevention Analysis

SDRI provides a computerized postural analysis, computerized foot/arch analysis, measurements to access the symmetry or your feet, legs and hips, blood pressure, body fat analysis and videotaped running or walking gait analysis.  You will be provided with a report that we hope you will use to better your health and prevent injuries!

Custom Orthotics


Custom Orthotics

SDRI offers over the counter orthotics as well as custom orthotics. Custom orthotics are made in house by Dr. Runco at a cost of $347 or $500 for 2 pair and require an appointment.

A custom orthotic is a device made and customized to the shape of your foot. It is meant to stabilize the foot and hold it in an optimal position, increase function, limit motion of a painful joint, decrease weight bearing on painful areas and protect your foot from excessive impact and shearing forces.

Custom orthotics are an effective treatment for plantar fasciitis, shin splints, patellofemoral pain syndrome/Runner’s knee and more.

San Diego Custom Orthotics are made at the San Diego Running Institute.

Rehab/”Prehab” Classes

Strength and rehabilitation classes will be offered nightly.  We have classes for rehabing your knees, lower back and shoulder.  Even if you do not have an injury you can come….we call it “prehab”.

Our Doctor’s diagnose and treat running injuries without drugs or surgery.  Doctor Runco is an Ultramarathon runner and hates the phrase “You have to stop running”.  His goal is to fast, convenient and cost effective treatment options for you to choose in order to achieve you goals and get back to running as quickly as possible.

Dr. Runco is a San Diego Chiropractor that has been fixing San Diego runners “by hand” without drugs or surgery for eleven years. Many running injuries can be fixed using simple and accurate diagnostic methods and treatment recommendations.

Kinesiotaping, KT Taping, Rocktaping



Kinesiotaping is a state-of-the-art running injury tool used to help runners with injuries. Instead of a brace, Kinesiotape is used to help runners keep their muscles and joints in alignment.

Dr. Runco is not only a certified Kinesiotaping doctor but is also a Certified Kinesiotaping Instructor (CKTI). He lectures internationally and domestically on Kinesiotaping methods to physical therapists, athletic trainers, doctors and occupational therapists.

Dr. Runco

Dr. Runco is has been fixing San Diego runners and triathletes for 16 years.  He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. He is a former Naval Jet Engine Mechanic serving aboard the USS John F. Kennedy during the first Gulf War.  Dr. Runco has run over 15 marathons in 15 states as well as 9 50 mile Ultramarathons.  He is currently training for the San Diego 100 Mile Endurance Run in June.

Dr. Runco prides himself on accurately diagnosing a patient’s condition and providing cost effective and fast treatment options to get the patient back on the road as quick as possible.  Dr. Runco hates the phrase “you have to stop running”.  His goal is to keep you running and in the event you do have to stop he strives to provide you with alternate exercise options so that you can stay in shape while your body heals.
